David Williams describes his first encounter with Ashtanga Yoga

I just came across this video on Youtube. At a recent workshop in L.A., David Williams recounts his first encounter with Ashtanga Yoga: In 1972, he witnessed a demonstration of the Primary Series by Manju Jois and his friend Basaraju in Pondicherry, India. The rest, as most of you know, is history: Williams subsequently found his way to Mysore, where he persuaded Guruji to teach him Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.

Looking back, we can see how crucial this first encounter was. If David Williams had never encountered Manju, or did not have the persistence to find Guruji and persuade him to teach him, probably none of us will be practicing today. Here's Williams telling this story in his own words. Enjoy!
